The Museum
The first Faïencerie de Gien Museum was opened by Pierre Jeufroy in 1985. It brought together a unique collection of historic pieces made in the Faïencerie workshops from 1821. Since then, collections have been enriched and expanded to include not only iconic pieces stored over the years at the Faïencerie, but also many generous loans of connoisseurs’ private collections, as well as gifted pieces, and pieces held in deposit for the town of Gien.
The Faïencerie’s bicentenary year saw the renovation of the Museum under the leadership of Yves de Talhouët. It opened its doors to the public on the 29th April 2022. The renovation of the Museum has upgraded and enlarged its exhibition space.
The Museum scenography, designed by Mathilde Bretillot, is boldly modern in style. Gien blue appears in various areas of the Museum, a constant all along the visit route.
