Collection Héritage
For Gien, Anne Jochum takes a new look at the traditional Rouen style blue decoration, also known starch blue or sky blue derived from the lapis-lazuli stone used for cladding faience pieces in the XVIth century drapery borders derived from Italian and Chinese techniques. The «Héritage» decorative theme is experienced like a pleasant and familiar emotion: an impression of large festive tables offering a warm welcome in classical refinement is evoked by these decorative fragments of contemporary composition.
When Faïencerie de Gien was founded in 1821, it initially adopted a number of the large models of Rouen faience but then redesigned them into new forms, thereby gaining recognition as a member of the community of great faience makers.
With the acquisition of 190 years of creation and know-how, Gien enhances its patrimony through this Héritage collection, presenting motifs of the Rouen period from different standpoints bedecked with flowers, new styles, lacework and pearls ….
