Isabelle Barthel graduated from the Higher College of Decorative Arts of Paris (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris) after passing a master’s degree in the history of art at the Sorbonne.
She has created a great many drawings, paintings and illustrations for such prestigious «standard bearers» as the French luxury trades as Hermès, Vuitton and the French National Theatre (La Comédie Française) whilst at the same time developing her own painting works. In particular, the Paris State Opera House has acquired one of her water colours, which features on the façade decoration of the famous Palais Garnier. She has created a great many works on behalf of Louis Vuitton, including the silk scarf “Globe”. At Hermès, her drawings are to be found not only on silk squares, but also on bath rugs, pareos, ties and enamel bracelets. A great many other creations have been achieved, amongst other for United Arrows Japan, Mac Kinsey, Daum and Maison Madame Figaro. Isabelle Barthel has also conceived ballet costume drawings, illustrations for the Relais et Châteaux (Inns & Castles) hotel chain and movie films in the publishing trade (Fleuve Noir, éditions 10-18, Pocket…).
Already for Gien, she has created the Zenaba, Le temps des cerises, Paris.Paris, Cacao and Eden services.
